Vitamin B5, also called pantothenic acid, is one of the members of the vitamin B complex. Pantothenic acid is an integral part of an exceptionally important molecular – coenzyme A, which is essential for the process of producing energy and for protein metabolism. Also, it plays an important role in liberating the energy stored in fats. Pantothenic acid contributes to the normal synthesis and metabolism of steroid hormones, vitamin D and certain neurotransmitters. Lika all the B complex vitamins, this one is also water soluble, which is why it needs to be consumed every day.
