Impressive vitamin C content. Currant is an indigenous fruit in Central and Eastern Europe, and is cultivated in areas with a moderate climate. This food has a wide and frequent use in various types of cuisine worldwide, and there are three types of currant: white, red and black. Of these three, black currant has the most intensive colour, thanks to the pigment anthocyanin. Black currant is an excellent source of vitamin C, and just 44 g of berries satisfies the daily requirement (80 mg) of this vitamin.
